Tea

Aromatic leaf dirt
     plucked by colonial hands.
Fished into a fine mesh,
Dry tobacco-scented dumplings.

Where two people gather
      there you are.
Silent mediator,
Friendship protector.

Steaming water
       steeps transformation.
Like love, left too long
Heat dissipates, bitterness grows.
