Reading Ian McEwan’s “Black Dogs”. At least once a page there is a sentence so simple, elegant, profound, concise, it makes me want to pack it all in and never put pen to postcard ever again. Then again it makes me want to reach for something higher, just out of reach. Always out of reach.

  1. When I submitted the first draft of the introduction to my undergraduate dissertation, my supervisor returned her feedback with one sentence marked, “this is a really great sentence.” I have yet to reproduce that glory.

And now I write for government.

  2. Recieved! And I absolutely love this postcard. After procrastinating NaNoWriMo, I'd like to read great sentences, instead of write them. I'll have check out read Black Dogs.
