This is the foyer of the Elizabeth Arden building. On the reception desk is a large printed quote (barely visible in the photo on the right hand side) that reads:

“To be beautiful is the birthright of every woman” – Elizabeth Arden, 1912

Not – “to be educated”, not “the right to vote” (in the USA women could not vote in 1912). It’s ok ladies, you sit there and look pretty and worry about kittens, while us men do the tough thinking and deciding stuff, ok!? This is what the cosmetic industry thinks of you, or at least what this quote makes me wonder about.
